O Ya - NYC

It's only fitting that my first post being back in NYC is the most mind blowing meals that I've ever had. 18 courses at a new restaurant called O Ya, new to NYC that is, but with years of history rooted in Boston. Incredibly well versed in all things Japanese, O Ya hits it out of the park with only two options of tasting menus 18 or 24. They should be the textbook definition of elegance through simplicity, making not only your food but your experience seamless in every way. We had every kind of fish prepared with things like watermelon, banana pepper mousse, truffles, squid ink to fried shallots and nothing let us down along with some meats, shell fish and dessert of course. Our mouths were on a roller coaster of tastes, each with a new bridge of flavors and textures using molecular gastronomy techniques to make each single bite different. I included the menu, which changes regularly, but was the exact bites we got in our course tonight. I hope you all get a chance to try this new spot, especially before it takes off and its months before you can even get in the door.
