Roasted Pears

roasted pears

So i get to actually call this dorm food, since I made these in my London dorm for all my friends last week. These are super easy but crazy delicious. I wouldn't say they are the healthiest thing, but if you remove the ice cream they aren't that bad of a sweet treat. As always, enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 2 large ripe pears
  • 1/4 cup of walnut halves
  • 1/4 tsp of ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 2 Tb of brown sugar
  • (optional) vanilla ice cream
  • 1/8 tsp of salt

Directions:

Preheat the oven at 350 degrees. Cut the pears in half and take a small spoon or melon baller to scoop out the seeds and a small hole in the center. Break the walnuts into pieces and place in the pears (the amount just filling the top), in between the walnuts sprinkle some of the brown sugar. Once the pears are all filled drizzle the honey over each of the pears and top that with the cinnamon. I sprinkle the smallest of salt on top of the small pile of walnuts, so that while the brown sugar cooks it creates a but if a salted caramel effect.
Bake for 30 min, make sure to test and see a knife goes through the pear easily, and then serve on top of ice cream if you would like.

Yields: 4 halves
